Minkey finally returned Annabelle's apron to Annabelle!! She had worn it for quite some time!

NOW Minkey has her own outfit......I do think Annabelle needs to fix her hair--I see a bit of glue stain on her forehead!

Sock Monkey game

This is a very fun game I found at Walmart. It has this cute little sock monkey that a child (or adult) has to hide. The game comes with questions you have to answer--Is it in a room with a rug. Is there an oven, etc. When hiding the monkey a bit of it has to be visible. Eventually you pick a card that says go look for the monkey. Hopefully one has enough clues by then to find him. It comes with a very short timer which makes for laughs.

The monkey on the left is the newest one and he has his new hat as of today. This is for Corwin or as we call him at times, Cor-baby. I need to come up with a name for the monkey, but actually Corwin's siblings are great at this! Right now I am calling him Monk-Monk!

The birth of a new monkey

Here is the machine---which always inspires happiness just because of its color and simplicity and happy kitty features!

Yes and here is the newest Monkey. This one is going to Corwin on his birthday in January. He has a slightly worried look--but he is not as worried as Alden's monkey.....perhaps it is because Corwin seems a tiny bit more sedate.
Here he is with 2 of his buddies. He will remain with them for a month until he comes into Corwin's world.

He is enjoying hanging out with this gang for a while until he goes forth and travels to the new Corwin world which has plenty of monkey playmates too!

Until then he will hang out with this gang.....and et hem the dolls!

Minkey's new outfit (shocking) and awaiting a new additon

This is my new shocking pink outfit (says Minkey!). I have to give my apron back to Anabelle. She loaned me the apron (by force) for quite some time now. I have a hard time finding clothes to fit me. But...........
While at Walmart the other day I saw this outfit for dolls. I bought it and it fits for the most part--I can't close the back at the very top!! (I am not fat , mind you!). As you can see, I now have a purse.
I also have some shocking pink shoes! Well, I look lively now instead of sedate! Some day I will have to find another apron so I can switch to a meeker look. My friend Rhianwen says I look like a princess!! WOW!! I like that!!! I am waiting for the new arrival of a new monkey creation being made for Rhianwen's brother Corwin. I will let you see him when he comes into existence!

Introducing Cuddly Billy on Rednesday

Hi I am Billy. I am so soft--did you know that old monkeys get soft with age?? That is what is so special about adopting us old monkeys. Nannykim adopted me last week or maybe a week and a half ago......time flies when one is monkey-ing around!

Here I am waiting for the laudry to finish washing. I'm just sitting in the laudry room. Notice my ruby red lips and my balsom filled cardinal pillows from Mount Mitchell! When I sit here in the laundry room and I lean on these pillows the scent brings me back to the Mountains!

Well the whites are ready to hang! I know you have seen this RED laundry basket before, but have you seen it filled? With WHITES? This basket is sold in Walmart's 4th of July section. It would be great to haul stuff at the beach too--Nannykim is smiling about it!

I grant Nannykim mucho encouragement by hanging here. She likes hanging laundry before the sun hits the area--it makes her feel she has gotten ahead of the game.-- ALthough she likes the feel of the early morning sunshine too. It is soothing to hear the birds singing and the neighbors out trimming ......

Well my friends, I hope you have enjoyed meeting me. I am so love---able and please let Nannykim know how wonderful you think I am. I am a happy little guy, that loves to play around!

Father's Day monkeying

We monkeys, loved the card that nannykim got for her hubby. It combined the best of both worlds, Monkeys and Spanish! Nannykim had no idea what the card said and her hubby had to translate it. (Days later we discovered a translation written on the back of the card....but it wasn't really very accurate according to hubby! (ps. Soon a new monkey that has joined our family will be posted about.....perhaps for rednesday? )

Tablescape Thursday

It is tablescape Thursday at Susan's. Hi Tablescapers! It is Minkey here! We monkeys love our food and this past week we had a great escape to Charleston , SC which is reeving up for the musical spoletto time. (not sure about the spelling!)
We stopped in at the above place for some lunch and I thought I would cheat and show you our tablescape which we monkeys created.
It started with the usual linen cloths, flowers, water glasses, salt and pepper, roll plates--get the picture?
Then Zephir (in the red hat) and I (Minkey, the adorable one) popped into action!

We ordered espresso....... DON'T YOU THINK THAT WE ARE are THE TABLESCAPE?
We had a romantic time. Pets really weren't allowed so we just poked out our servant's carrier bag. We actually saw a lady that looked like Miss Marple eating here, but it would have been rude to take her picture---she even had the hat!
For dessert we climbed trees......

and watched a pelican in the sunset!

Sock Monkey blues

I, Minkey, am very upset about the monkey shown below!! We saw him in a window at an old pharmacy in the old part of Mount Pleasant on Pitt Street! We came to adopt him and found out he was for window dressing only!! Our hearts are truly broken. I feeeeeel for him.....locked up forever in this window. I believe Nannykim will have to make a similar one for us since Zephir and I are crushed!!!

Hi. Minkey here again! I am swinging on a zipline on our vacation rental property--ooooops my dark brown pantaloons are showing!!! Must tell Nannykim to be careful in future photos. The evergreen Oaks are so majestic!! We are in Mount Pleasant near shem creek.
There are many lovely homes by the creek and Charleston harbour in Mt. Pleasant.
You can see Charleston city in the background from these docks.
Many historic things in the older part of Mount Pleasant where we walked today!
We liked the confederate jasmine growing on the porch and the picket fence was nice too.
Lots of big old homes with cool windows and gardens.

Third day of vacation May 24, 2010

For those of you who are smart , you may just know where we are headed today!

Our third day of vacation and now we are in Charleston , SC. Zephir and I (Minkey) love the fountains! The day started of sunny and very windy!
We love the pale colored homes and the cool fences and gingerbread type spindles. (Since we live at spindlecottage it is a sinch we would love this home above!).
I thought this fence was intriguing---
We decided to visit a few churches since Charleston is known for its many beautiful ones!

Then we thought--lets look at a bit of the College of Charleston (actually we were walking along and ran into it!) Here is a nice entry to it.

Then we saw this Episcopal church below that is being repaired. There are a lot of Episcopal churches in Charleston.

We thought we would check out another church; this time a Catholic one.

Love the inside of this one---quite awesome.

It is funny how dark it is on the outside and how light it is on the inside!!

Don't you love the contrast of all the pink with the green umbrella? Doesn't this make you very happy????? We got caught in the rain without our umbrellas!! Nannykim got drenched and had to run barefoot through Charleston---fun however!!
We stopped a moment under the awning here to get out of the downpour.

Day two May 23 2010 of vacation getaway

We had a lovely second day on our getaway Here you see Minkey (me) and Zephir relaxing at Sullivan's Island (please excuse my spelling in this post---I am a monkey and never learned how to spell). In the distance you see a cruise ship in Charleston's harbor.
But I digress. The day started with a broken coffee maker! So nannykim, our servant, had to boil the water and pour it on top of the filter---worked grand, I must say!

The back yard of this rental property is grand for us monkeys. There are birds, owls, and fig trees......but bestessssss of all is what you see below
Above this garage and in the tree is a platform---monkeys love climbing you know!
Since the 23rd was a Sunday we all went to St. Andrews in Mount Pleasant. They have just left the Episcopal church and are now Anglican. It was a nice quiet early morning service .
After church we went ten minutes over to Sullivan's Island where Ft. Moultrie is......it is right on the beach.

Of course Zephir and I, Minkey, the soft spoken one, had to get pics of our backpacking capablities.

There were lots of cannons for us monkeys to play on but this here ball was the best!
We discovered it was a Mine!! We are very explosive monkeys who live dangerously at times!

When Nannykim saw the above jetty, she said it reminded her of her beach days in Connecticut and the days of crabbing!
We got a nice view of Charleston from Sullivan's Island. You can see the curch steeples and a cruise ship to the right.

Thre were some fiddler crabs which all scurried away----there were hundreds, but we didn't get the pic......they were afraid of us monkeys!
Zephir and I just luv the warm sun, and old things that wash up on the beach. We are not sure what this thing we are on is!!!
Fort Sumter is behind us in this picture. This is where the civil war began.....it is opposite Fr. Moultrie and quite close really!! We thought we should start a fight.....but we were too happy.

There were some nice homes right on the beach.

Next we went to Mepkin Abby at Monck's Corner. Beautiful trees here
We took a little tour--below is the library there with over 50,000 books.
There is a cemetary where some of the monks are buried.

The steps in the grass in the distance are where the former owner used to mount her horse. She donated this land to the monks in the 40's after her daughter was killed in an accident.

We purchased a nice pottery mug and books at the gift shop.......so guess what we did the rest of the evening!!

Minkey's travel update for Saturday May 22

Well here we are in our car; we are ready for our servants to drive us to our little get away! When we arrived at our destination we found a bed that was super high!! We will try it out tonight---after all monkey's like heights.

Zephir and I needed this getaway!!
We discovered a cool old clock here.
You can see one of our servants to the right--sorry about the blur but nannykim had the setting on the wrong place on the camera!!
Perhaps the blur speaks of romance?

Our servant had to call his bro. The creek is just outside our window and the trailers are lining up at the end of today (sat) for their boats.

We are comfy , and plan on playing a little scrabble tonight and taking a walk along the creek

victorian tea?

HI There!! I am Minkey!! and I have taken over this blog!! As to why you can read about it by clicking here if you desire.

Cielo at http://houseinroses.blogspot.com/ is having a Victorian Tea Party on Monday, so I, Minkey, the most wonderful monkey around these parts, decided I must participate...... And Martha is having one on Tuesday HERE

Behind me you see my flowery teacozy. I am wearing my Springtime attire of a floral nature to go along with this setting. The white flowers I have picked are poisonous so I must make sure they don't fall into the tea!! They are confederate Jessamine (sp?) and have the most powerfully sweet fragrance! NOTE: if nannykim should not respond to any of your teaparty posting you will know that the tea was contaminated with the poison. Us monkey's are not affected by it.....
The temperature is in the 90's as you see above!! This party happened here with us monkeys on Friday in SC where springtime can be warm. We decided we should move outdoors for a more victorian? setting.
Zephir and I felt that the above netting gives a lacey feel to the setting.
You notice the poisonous flowers to the left of the netting!

Of course with the tea above, we monkeys love bananas and kiwee fruit! No need for dishes for us!!
Of course I think we might want some of the Monkey Bay below. However it is best for cooking and not drinking as it is a bit tart.......sooooooooo
We will have our little tea. The Tea pot and cups we purchased at the Charleston Tea Plantation. It is the only tea plantation in North America!!! (there is a post further down on this blog about our trip there by clicking here....yes Zephir and I , Minkey (the most beautiful beige monkey!)did go!) These look appropriate for us monkeys, don't ya think? Piglet had to come too. I figured for the victorian look I should don a veil....well um this was as close as I could come to it. Since green tea is so good for us, we drank it right up--yummy--we are using the kind that has a bit of lemon in it!!

Well, guys, it got a little too hot out there so we came back inside and we wish you all adieu! But first ......a larger picture for you all?

Ps. If Nannykim gets poisoned.....well.....what can we say, but that we tried to behave!

Minkey is taking over this BLOG

Hi, this is Minkey speaking !! I had a talk with nannykim (the one holding the camera below). I told her that I am really not trying to be rebellious.....BUT....she has been neglecting this monkeyblog!!!!

I realize she has a lot of other blogs to take care of......so I told her I could be the one to help out here at my favorite blog!! Zephir, my hubby (in the photo above) sooooooooooooo agreed!!

We often just hang out in this upstairs bedroom and just sit around and hold hands. (the mural in the back is part of one that nannykim's son did when he was very young and nannykim is sentimental so she has left it there).

I decided to sneak down the stairs this morning!!!

I had to go through one of the dining areas to go toward the kitchen where nannykim usually keeps her computer!

YES, BABY!! I have arrived. I am going to take over this here HERE blog!! SO you better look for further adventures. I may go to all kinds of places with nannykim. Rhianwen, you and ALden will have to check out our adventures!! (Rhianwen and Alden are nannykim's sweet grands.)

Let me see if I can get the hang of this.....hmmmm

Yup--I think it will be a breeze!! AND note to all, I am in my springtime attire---no scarff needed this time of the year!!

Aldie Boy's monkey

This is the new monkey for Aldie Boy's birthday. I think I will call him Aabee which is short for Aldie Boy. He has a very shocked expression on his face. This is because Alden often does shocking things for his age.Soooo Aabee is often shocked ---Alden walked at 9 months, can play a flute like recorder, can ride a horse with one hand in the air and while simultaneously rocking on the horse, can get in all kinds of crashes, can fall flat out on the floor because he looked up at Uncle Skipper, etc

This will be one worn out shock filled monkey--so he is resting in the chair , but still has the surprised look on his face!

Here is a close up--his ears are different so that Rhi can tell him apart from the rest of the gang. His hat is sewed on so Aldie won't lose it.

He now awaits the birthday party for Alden Boy in July!

We got to be reunited with one of our favorite families--and Our favorite Grand Daughter! See how she loves us!

The lake and flowers were beautiful--it was a photo op.

Rhi ate an apple with us.

All in all it was a splendish time!!

Charleston Tea Plantation

This weekend we went to the Charleston Tea Plantation---we love this tea!! In the background you can see their old harvester which is from the 60's and is still working.

Of course the best thing about visiting the plantation is that Kim got to get a new teapot--one that is just perfect for her morning tea! However , she usually uses one of Rosanna's tea cups from Seattle.

Here we are sitting in the weeds next to a tea bush. The bushes in this particular plot had lots of old varieties which they were not using at this time.

A festival is coming soon. They will have the first cuttings of the season and it is exceptionally good tea.

This is a picture of some of the older bushes. Tea bushes can produce for hundreds of years. One of the oldest ones (not here) is around 1400 years old!! YIKES.

After the tea is cut it goes onto the withering bed to dry it out (but green teas are not put here)

The Rotovane crushes it up .

Then it goes to the oxidation bed. (the whole process from cutting until ready for bagging only takes 20 hours. They send the tea to Kentucky to be made into bags .....or sometimes to Fairfield ,CT..)

The trees were beautiful.

On Sunday we attended the services at St. Phillip's (started in the 1600's).

Of course it came crashing down at an appropriate time, but he survived!

Ocracoke Island adventure

Father Day readiness

My Father-in-law had a stroke on May 17. He has been in a rehab facility and we have created a new addition to our monkey family for him. This is a cheerful little guy. He even has blue eyes like my FIL. He has the casual flair--jams....since my FIL needs to know how to rest. But at the same time he has a little injection thing---just to encourage the patient to keep up with his PT. Kind of an "or else" thing.

We shall send this guy off to the rehab on Saturday!!

Seattle trip -April 08

Well here we are--ready to celebrate our creater's birthday week. She was going to visit her son in Redmond (outside of Seattle)....so of course we had to tag along!! It was our first plane ride!!WOW! Here we are rejoined to our redmond buddy. He is using his Spring attire because he is used to the cold weather. But since we are from SC we are wearing our scarfs!!

This is the son I was talking about--he was creating a tasty dish.

Here is proof of the cool weather--Redmond greeted us with snow, sleet and rain--pretty awesome.

There were nice walks on Lake Washington (I think that was the name of the lake--very beautiful)

We took a ferry ride to Bainbridge Island for a nice lunch and view of a vineyard.

Zephir and Minkey went on their first trip in December 2007. It was to Charleston, SC!

They stayed at the Holiday Inn in downtown Charleston. They loved the beds since they had temperpedic King sized mattresses!

Also comfy chairs for reading.

They visited the battery and enjoyed sitting on the cannons!

They felt like they were defending SC from the British!

They spent Friday night seeing the Festival of Lights at James Island. There were 1,000's of lights. Here are a few. This one is a lighting that pictures the Charleston bridge.

Newest Monkey--GI

This is the newest member of the Zefir family--I am calling him Gi (which stands for GI as in GI JOE)--his owner at Christmas may decide on another name, but I will always think of him in this way. Unfortunately he has on one thing made in China!! And that is his little scarf bandanna....everything else is from USA!

Notice his little backpack--it has an extra hat for summer wear in it ;-) .

His colors of army camouflage do not stand out a well as the red hats on the other guys--perhaps if time allows he will obtain other outfits!

decendants of the magnificent elder

The first descendant of the magnificent elder is Zephir---Dec 2007---he is a confidant dude. He was named after a monkey in BABAR. Soon there appeared his true love, Minkey (have to check records on this name--it was the word used in the Pink Panther movie for monkey--we believe Uncle Skip will verify this).

Next on the scene was this little blue guy (he was sent to Beckie--we have not received his name yet). Well, Beckie just told me; the blue guy is Kimmie!

Next is his brother Maurice that went to live with Lyn--he is a darling. (a bit spunky)

Now this one will be going home on Christmas--as you can see she is a bit pregnant. (the following monkeys are unnamed until they go to their owners)

This is the daughter (the eldest one) of the above mother. She is going to a very loving lively child on Christmas day. As you can see, this monkey is a bit flamboyant.

This big guy is going to a big baby boy---he will be shipped out tomorrow. His owner is half Italian descent---so this monkey should experience quite a different life!

He is anticipating his shipping!

Monkey beginnings

The oldest ancestor of the Zephir family:

The original monkey that belonged to nannykim as a child is now approximately 42 years old; nannykim's brother now takes care of this precious one. He is the great ancestor! He may have been made by nanykim's mom, but we are not sure. He is stuffed with cut up nylon stockings. The brown, red , and white stockings of those day, apparently had bigger heels--thus the bigger fuller mouth--makes for a cuter monkey, I do believe.
